Brighton UK Tipped For Property Price Boom

It’d be wrong to say that property in Brighton is “cheap” at present, but Rightmove has tipped Brighton to feel the ripple effect from London’s exorbitant property prices, as more and more people are priced out of living in and moving to the UK’s capital city.

Brighton has been tipped alongside Luton and Southampton as a place where property prices will increase rapidly as people look to snap up property that’s situated close to London. Properties in these areas tend to be popular thanks to the strong transport links in place, meaning that a commute into central London can often take less than an hour by car or train.
Rightmove are predicting a 43% increase in property prices in Southampton by 2019 – with the average homeowner expecting to see an increase in value of around £100,000 in that short space of time. The announcement by Rightmove has prompted property investors and speculators to hone their sights on Brighton, Luton and Southampton, with property price increases are expected to outstrip those of London in the next five years.

First time buyers are clamouring to get a foot on the property ladder while mortgage interest rates remain low – with such dramatic property price increases forecast for the next half a decade, more and more first time buyers are recognising that ultra-low cost borrowing won’t last forever. More first time buyers are making the jump to benefit from the current low cost of borrowing, as well as the relative low cost of property versus predictions for five years time. Experts have been quick to warn buyers however that predicted interest rate rises in the next 12 months could lead to thousands of people across the UK becoming “mortgage prisoners”.

Don’t forget that F Smith & Son Removalshave helped hundreds of people move house in East Sussex efficiently and safely – you really can trust the advice that we offer.
  • Pack in advance
There’s no use leaving all of your packing until the last minute. Pack in advance so that you can put things in boxes in an organised fashion – it’ll make things a lot easier when it comes to unpacking at your new property.
  • Book a removal company in advance
Removal companies tend to be booked up by other people looking to move house in advance. That means if you want to work with the company of your choice, you need to be quick to book your date with them. As soon as you know the date of your move, make a booking to avoid disappointment!
  • Take final meter readings in your old property
Always take meter readings from your old property – write them down and take a picture if you can. This proves how much energy you’ve used, and it ensures you won’t be billed for energy that someone else has used.
  • Take new meter readings in your new property
The first thing you should do when moving into a new property is to write down meter readings and take pictures – again this ensures you only pay for what you’ve used, and not that of the previous owner or tenant.
  • Change your address with utility providers and other companies
Once you’ve settled in, be sure to change your address with credit card companies, banks and every other business or organisation you deal with. Otherwise, important mail might end up at your old property.
  • Charge your mobile phone and top it up
The chances are that you’ll need to make a few calls on the big move day – ensure your phone’s battery is charged and that you’ve got enough calling credit to make any last minute calls to solicitors and/or estate agents.
  • Enlist some help
Moving house is always easier when you’ve got the helping hands of a few friends or family members. If you don’t ask you don’t get – so be sure to ask a few people if they could spare a day to help you out!
  • Make a few trips to the charity shop
Moving house is a great opportunity to clear out old things you no longer need! Be sure to get rid of possessions you don’t want or need any longer – anything that’s good for resale can be taken to the local charity shop.
Finally, once the big day is over, it’s time to treat yourself (and your workers!) to a round of fish and chips from one of East Sussex’s many fish and chip shops. There’s no use trying to cook when you’ve just moved into your property, so take a load off and enjoy a housewarming takeaway on your first night!
